Lesson Plans

Designed an adaptable Lesson Plan solution, a conceptual digital tool for teachers and school systems to streamline and centralize lesson planning. The tool allows integration with other educational software, making it adaptable to various teaching needs. As the sole designer, I applied a user-centered approach using the Design Thinking framework and developed a prototype in Figma. This adaptable design emphasizes simplicity and accessibility, catering to teachers with diverse tech skills. Although a conceptual project, initial feedback highlighted its potential to improve lesson organization and reduce manual tracking, enhancing overall efficiency for educators.

Case Study

    • Objective: Design a digital solution to help teachers and school systems track and manage lesson plans, with integration capabilities for other educational software.

    • Target Audience: Teachers and school administrators who need efficient, centralized lesson planning.

  • Sole designer: Responsible for concept development, research, wireframing, and prototyping.

  • Process: Followed the Design Thinking framework to ensure a user-centered approach.

    • Empathize: Considered pain points commonly experienced in traditional lesson planning and conducted informal discussions with peers in education.

    • Define: Outlined essential features such as lesson tracking, integration with LMS platforms, and ease of access for teachers.

    • Ideate: Brainstormed and outlined features based on educator feedback.

    • Prototype: Created low- and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma to demonstrate the interface and key functionalities.

    • Balancing comprehensive functionality with simplicity, making the tool accessible for teachers with varying tech skill levels.

    • Designing for seamless integration with existing software to eliminate redundant steps and streamline the user experience.

    • Designed an intuitive interface that simplifies lesson planning and incorporates necessary features like scheduling, drag-and-drop content organization, and automatic syncing (conceptual) with popular educational platforms.

    • Created visual elements and templates to support recurring lesson plans and customizable layouts to fit different teaching styles.

    • Conceptual project created as a prototype, but initial peer feedback on the design suggested it would help reduce manual tracking and improve lesson organization.

    • Project enhanced understanding of user-centered design principles in education-focused tools and reinforced the need for accessible and efficient software.

    • This project highlighted the importance of designing with user needs at the forefront, especially when serving users with a range of technical skills.

    • Reinforced the value of simplicity in feature prioritization and iterative design to maintain focus on usability.

    • Plan to develop more projects that explore educational software solutions to further my skills in user-centered design.
